Charing Crematorium opens its doors to everyone
Charing Crematorium is issuing an open invitation to local people to visit its picturesque, peaceful site on Saturday 22 October.
The crematorium is hosting a community open day between 9.30am and 3pm.
Local people will have the chance to tour the facilities and take a walk in the landscaped grounds as well as to meet the staff and find out more about the work they do and exceptional care they provide to make each service uniquely personal.
Charing Crematorium is part of Westerleigh Group, the UK’s largest independent owner and operator of crematoria and cemeteries, with 37 sites in England, Scotland and Wales, all set within beautifully-landscaped gardens of remembrance which provide pleasant, peaceful places for people to visit and reflect.
Site manager James Brown said: “This is an opportunity for people to come and visit our site and ask any questions they might have about what we do here and the support we provide to bereaved families.
“We have a beautiful site here. An avenue of mature oak and beech trees line the entrance drive, while the extensive grounds offer a peaceful and serene setting for quiet contemplation.
“There are formal lawns, rose beds and an abundance of shrubs. Visitors can also see our Covid-19 memorial, which was installed to form a focal point for people to not only remember those lost during the pandemic but to also honour the essential workers who did so much to support communities during the lockdowns.
“The open day also gives people a chance to learn about the wide range of work we do in the local community and the support we give to many local charities and organisations.
“Visitors will be able to join us for light refreshments, as well as just take time to explore our site, to pause and reflect.
“No appointment is necessary for the open day, and we very much look forward to welcoming local families to our lovely grounds.”
